Social justice warriors have overplayed the feminism hand | The Telegraph

You may have noticed colleagues this week striking a pose for International Women’s Day (IWD). The celebration of women’s achievements is given a new theme every year, which is not only unnecessary but must be a challenge for campaigners who’ve been banging the same drum for decades. Nonetheless, this year we’ve been urged to “embrace equity” and take selfies hugging ourselves.
IWD began after a group of American workers in 1909 demanded shorter hours, better pay and voting rights. Now, it is ostensibly a day for welcoming progress and recognising the challenges that remain. But, as this year’s theme lays bare, it is morphing into a social justice movement that is less about equality of opportunity and more about using regulation to address “problems” like the gender pay gap.
